The Melbourne Young Leaders program is a premium 7-day study tour for international students aged 10–14. Delivered by VIT-registered Melbourne teachers, anchored at Campus Melbourne, and structured around the Australian Curriculum. Every activity has a named educational purpose and a measurable learning outcome — this is a curriculum extension, not a sightseeing trip.
Classroom sessions at Campus Melbourne are sandwiched with real-world excursions that directly extend what students learned that morning. Day 6 is intentionally flexible — tailored to your group's priorities.
Melbourne CBD · 5-hour guided tour
Students arrive in Melbourne and are immediately immersed in the city through a comprehensive 5-hour guided tour. First taste of Australian life, architecture, history, and culture — and an excitement-building orientation for the learning journey to come.
Students begin the program with an immediate, immersive introduction to Melbourne and Australian culture. The city tour builds contextual understanding of Australia's history, identity, and environment, creating a foundation for deeper exploration throughout the week.
Campus Melbourne · on-site classroom
A full day of classroom-based learning at Campus Melbourne, opening with an English & Australia knowledge assessment that helps facilitators tailor the week's pace to the group. Two structured seminars cover Australia's geography, Indigenous culture, wildlife, the Gold Rush, and migration.
Students develop a foundational understanding of Australia's history, environment, and cultural identity. The morning assessment establishes a baseline that allows facilitators to personalise the learning experience. Students express their understanding through group discussions and teamwork activities.
Sovereign Hill · Curriculum-accredited
Students travel to Ballarat for an immersive day at Sovereign Hill — experiencing the living history of the 1850s Gold Rush, the event that transformed Australia from a colonial outpost into a multicultural nation. The afternoon continues at Ballarat Wildlife Park with hands-on interaction with native species.
Students connect classroom learning about migration, history, and environment to real-world sites. The migration stories at Sovereign Hill create a deeply personal connection, while the wildlife park reinforces environmental awareness and conservation values. Sovereign Hill's education programs are the same Australian Curriculum-accredited classes taught to local Australian school students.
Melbourne Park · MCG · Professional coaching
Students visit Melbourne Park (home of the Australian Open) for a venue tour and a tennis coaching session with a professional coach on one of the iconic blue courts. Lunch is a guest speaker from a professional AFL club, followed by the MCG tour, the Australian Sports Museum, and a practical AFL fundamentals session.
Students understand how sport, movement, and wellbeing are central to Australian lifestyle and social connection. The day bridges the familiar (tennis and the globally-followed Australian Open) with the new (AFL and Australian sporting culture), making the experience both accessible and eye-opening. Students gain confidence through physical activity, teamwork, and cross-cultural engagement.
Melbourne School Campus · Cross-cultural exchange
This is the centrepiece of the cross-cultural experience and the single hardest thing for any tour operator to arrange. Students spend a full day embedded in a local Melbourne school — paired with a buddy student, attending real lessons, working on collaborative projects over lunch, and building friendships they'll keep.
Students develop teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills in a cross-cultural setting. They learn to collaborate with peers from a different linguistic and cultural background, practise negotiation, and experience the satisfaction of creating something together. Students build confidence using English in natural, social settings and develop empathy and cultural curiosity through genuine peer-to-peer connection.

Day 6 is intentionally flexible. Your group, your choice — tailored to the priorities of your school or parent group, or adjusted mid-week based on what your students have responded to. This is what separates a bespoke program from a one-size-fits-all tour.
A week in Melbourne changes shape based on weather, group energy, and what students responded to most in the first half. Day 6 gives us — and you — room to adapt. The evening concludes with a Farewell Dinner at Novotel Preston.

The final day consolidates what students have learned. Small groups prepare and deliver short presentations reflecting on the week — key learnings, cultural observations, personal growth, and differences from their home country. A farewell Australian-style lunch closes the experience, and students depart with their completed personal journals as a lasting record.
Students consolidate their learning, build confidence in English communication through structured presentations, and leave with a clear understanding of their experience and personal development. Each student receives a co-branded Certificate of Completion documenting specific learning outcomes — designed to be shared with parents, schools, and future education providers.
